Wednesday, July 23, 2014
THE current fastest female marathoner in the country, Mary Joy Tabal, her coach, 2013 Ironman 70.3 Philippines Filipino elite third placer John Philip Dueñas and runner James Go will be sharing their experience as guest speakers in the Athletes Talk 8 tomorrow at CrossFit Pintados, Juana Osmeña St.
Tabal and Go are both students of Dueñas, and the two will have contrasting stories to tell the running community.
Tabal is hailed as the fastest female marathoner who clocked 2 hours and 48 minutes in the Milo Marathon National Finals last year. She was able to erase the seven-year record held by Jho-an Banayag. Because of that triumph, she was sent to compete in the Paris Marathon where she landed in the women’s Top 20. Aside from those achievements. Cebu’s running queen has numerous local and national titles tucked under her belt.
On the other hand, Go, a running enthusiast, recently joined his first 42-kilometer marathon this year in the TBR Dream Marathon in Laguna. Despite his valiant effort, Go slightly missed the cut-off time, but vowed to train to better his time next year.
Go’s experience would definitely be an inspiration for those new to the running
Dueñas, a running coach and triathlete, has been a vital cog in the training of these individuals and would likely share the experiences he had with the various runners he handles.
