ONE of Spain's top clubs, FC Barcelona, makes Cebu City a venue of its latest football camp in the Philippines.

FC Barcelona Escola (FCBE), FC Barcelona's football school, holds its third football training camp in the country, the FCBE Camp Philippines, on Oct. 26 to 30 at the Aboitiz Sports Field.

The camp will be conducted by a technical director, FCBE coaches and some local coaches according to the FCBE Philippines website.

The training camp will be open for boys and girls ages six to 14 years old.

Registration is currently ongoing and interested participants may register online at www.fcbescolaphilippines.com with limited slots. The payment for early registration, which is up until Aug. 7, is pegged at P18,850, while the regular rate is P19,950.

FCBE held two camps last year both in Manila, in Alabang and in Taguig. Most of the participants were from Metro Manila, but some from Cebu, Negros Occidental, Davao, Iloilo and Cagayan de Oro also made the trip.

Cebu Football Association (CFA) grassroots development head Raffy Musni believes that this camp won't only benefit the children but also the coaches that will witness the event.

"It will be good for coaches because they will be able to observe and given the exposure in the clinic style of training," he said. "It will also be a huge impact to the football community because the coaches that are at top of the world will be here for a clinic."

According to the organizers, those that are less privileged which can't afford the camp's fee will have a chance to join with a sponsorship program by the organizers.

The training will follow FC Barcelona's philosophy and methodology. The main objective of the camp is "the integral training of the students in FC Barcelona values and methods."

Some of the products of the FC Barcelona school are world-class football players - Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez. EKA
