THE Suson brothers sizzled in the NUS-Black Diamond Boulderactive 2014 at the Funan Digital Life Mall Main Atrium in Singapore last Sunday.

This is an annual international bouldering competition participated by rock climbers from the Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, China and Japan.

Joshua Suson dominated the men’s novice category, finishing two out of the three routes in three attempts. Lim Zheng Wei and Ferran Tan, both from Singapore, trailed in second and third place, respectively.

Joshua’s younger brother Jan Joseph or JJ, on the other hand, captured the second spot in the men’s intermediate category with two tops, lagging behind Singapore’s Muhammad Syafiq who topped all three routes.

JJ also grabbed the third place in the Under-17 Category, which was topped by Teo Sing Hao and Chan Chong Kiat.

Blanche Ladera, another Cebu climber, also made noise in the women’s novice category after finishing in second place.

Rustam Gelmanov, a Russian bouldering competitor who finished first in the Laval, France leg of the 2014 World Cup circuit, was present in the event as a route-setter.
