ISAAC SIMAT led a 1-2 finish for Kenyans, while Ruffa Sorongan ruled the women’s division in the Dagan na, Sikad na, Tabang Pa charity run at the Mactan Airbase. The event was organized by the Philippine Air Force.

Simat crossed the finish line in 53 minutes, beating Douglas Mwiti by almost two minutes, while Robert Daang got third place in 55:39. Jomar Lumimbay (56:39) and Romeo Cortez (56:26) got the fourth and fifth places, respectively.

In the women’s 15K, Sorongan got the title in 1:10, finishing 40 seconds ahead of Lovely Andrin, while Mereeis Ramirez got third place in 1:13.


Aside from the 15K division, there were the 10K, 5K and 3K divisions and a crosscountry bikeathon.

In the 10K, Abraham Missos (34:31) won the men’s title over John Manos (34:41) and Azlan Pagay (37:12), while Keisha Mae Delechos (45:18) won the women’s title over Jhean Andrin (46:11) and Michelle Beboso.

In the 5K, Irene Canque won the women’s crown in 32:45, while Lelie Eliud got the men’s crown in 17:48. The 3K men’s title went to Ruel Algofera, while Lt. Venus Burgos got the women’s crown.

In the bikeathon, Ray Carbonera won the 29 years old and below title in 27:06, 20 seconds ahead of second placer Rady Carbornera.

The other winners were Jezam Baldomar in the 30-39 men’s division, Ramirez in the 30-49 women’s division, and Afredo Sabelario in the 50-and above. (Rhea Mae Soco, USJR Mass Com intern)
