CIGNAL HD men’s team will face Systema Active in the game opener of the Philippine Super Liga (PSL)’s first out-of-town game today at the University of San Carlos Gym.

It will be followed by the women’s match between Air Asia and Petron at 6 p.m.

According to organizer Ariel Paredes, the successful opening of the 2014 Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference last May 16 in Manila encouraged the organizing committee to push for the out-of-town games in Cebu City to bring the league closer to the provincial fans.

Team Cignal HD is holding a 3-2 win-loss record and hopes that the three Cebuano players will be more inspired to deliver as they are playing in their home court.

The three Cebuano players are former collegiate standouts Marlon Luces, Kent Boyd Abunda and Mike Abria.

Coach Michael Carillo of team Cignal HD said they will prevent what happened during their game against PLDT last Wednesday, when a weak defense led to their loss.

“Nagkulang kami sa blocking and sa over-all sa defense. Hopefully we can improve our game with tomorrow’s game against Systema,” said Carillo.

Carillo added that out-of-town matches will help bring the team closer and that it will develop strong teamwork .

“This is a good exposure for the team,” said Carillo.

Former University of San Jose Recoletos mainstay Abunda said that he is very excited to be playing in Cebu again.

“I am very excited to be playing here in Cebu and feel so proud as well,” said Abunda.
