MARLON Tapales is set to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific super bantamweight crown for the first time this weekend.

Tapales takes on Tanzanian up-and-comer Fadhili Majiha on Saturday at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

This is Tapales' first return to his birthplace since 2011.

“We will try our best (to knock him out), so that it will be a great fight because this is his (Tapales’) place,” said veteran trainer Juanito Ablaca. "Tapales' condition is a hundred percent."

Since a majority decision defeat to promising Mexican David Sanchez, the 22-year-old Tapales has won his last four fights against the likes of Indonesians Ruben Manakane and Galih Susanto, Japanese Hayato Kimura and Filipino prospect Fredirex Rodriguez for the WBO Asia-Pacific belt.

The 20-year-old Majiha is also on a run of his own, winning his past three fights. His last loss was back in 2012 by split decision to Nasibu Ramadhani.

Tapales is 25-2 with nine knockouts, while Majiha is 15-3-4 with seven knockouts.
