CEBUANO IM Kim Steven Yap scored his second win after beating GM Bin Sattar Reefat of Bangladesh Navy Chess Club to help the Philippine representatives Tagaytay Chess Club earn 2.5 points in Round 3 of the 2014 Asian Club Team Champions League in Al Ain, UAE.

As of press time, Yap was hoping to improve his standing as a Board 2 player for the Philippine delegation as they play Shanghai Chess Club of China yesterday.

Using a French Advance Opening, Yap was on attack mode, sacrificing three pieces en route to winning after his 41st move against the dejected Reefat.

In last night’s matches, Yap played IM Yiping Lou, who had a 1.5 points after three rounds.

The other player who gave Tagaytay Chess Club a full point was IM Emmanuel Senador, who defeated FM Sk. Nasir Ahmed in Board 3, while FM Mari Joseph Turqueza settled to a draw with FM Kh. Aminul Islam. Board 1 IM Rolando Nolte lost to GM Enamul Hossain.

Senador also contributed 2.0 to the Philippine squad.

After two matches, Tagaytay Chess Club already had 4.5 points. Its Round 2 match with Iraq Sports Club was rescheduled to another date.
