IT WAS another day at the office for Cebu’s running pride Mary Joy Tabal, as she stamped her class again yesterday in the women’s 21-kilometer run for a cause organized by Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) the 2nd Run for the Rivers—Tabal’s ninth this year, at SM Cebu Northwing.
Tabal clocked 1 hour 22 minutes and 21 seconds and almostbroke her half marathon personal record time of 1:21:00 from last year’s Cebu City Marathon (CCM).
Tabal displayed full dominance leading 16 minutes or more from the pack.
“I’m thinking that I’m close to my target body shape already. Because I had a better time finish today, almost my personal record.,” Tabal told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.
In the men’s 21K, Kenyans dominated with Isaac Simat topping the half-marathon in 1:14:15 with fellow Kenyan Willy Tanui came second in 1:15:10. Cebuano John Philip Dueñas was not far behind and was chasing for the second place but came short and clocked 1:15:47.
