THE Cebu School of Chess (CSC) announced the holding of the first qualifying tournament of the Cebu Juniors tournament, which will start today at the School of Chess on P. del Rosario St.

Tournament organizer and CSC managing director Kim Steven Yap announced that the tournament is open to players 21 years old and below, who will vie for the Grand Finals at the end of the year.

“We will follow the same format as the Kiddies tournament which is a 7-Round Swiss System of Standard chess competition, which means one hour timecontrol to finish the game. The top two players on each qualifying date will advance to the grand finals in December,” Yap explained.

The first round will start at 10 a.m. today.

Meanwhile, Yap announced the third qualifying tournament for the Kiddies tournament will be on June 20 and 21.
