The Pañeros, meanwhile, defeated Los Demonyos for third place, 95-90.

Van Ligutan played the hero’s role for the champion team as he wisely used his inside game skills to ward off the repeated rallies of the Eagles, especially in the final minutes of the game.

When the Eagles’ defense allowed the young lawyers to lead by as much as 15 at 38-23 Marvin Miralles rallied the Eagles to move within 46-43 with a minute and 42 seconds left in the third.

But Ligutan did not allow his team to lose the lead as he scored six straight baskets to give the IBP-Cebu City squad a 52-45 cushion at the end of the third quarter.

The young lawyers regained their poise and dominated the next eight minutes of the game to build a 67-55 lead before D’ Eagles mounted a final 9-1 rally anchored on Ian Santos and Miralles.
