Zethley breezes through towards q-finals

CEBU’s Zethley Mae “Anday” Alferez easily routed Josette Nator, 6-0, 6-0, to advance in the quarterfinals of the girls 16-under of the Series 55 of the Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age Group Tennis Tournament at the Consolacion Tennis Court in Laray, Consolacion.

Anday, 14, of Bright Academy failed to advance in the semi-finals in the same age group in the series 54 last week after she was overpowered by fellow Cebuana Allysa Bornia in their quarterfinal match.



Alferez will play against Lady Espinosa who won against Valerie Sabuero, 6-1, 6-1. The other quarterfinalist is Bornia who won via default and will face Patricia Velez after edging Pinkloyd Manabat, 6-1,6-2. Cherry Mae Toledo also won via default and will play against Averille Sacapano after she won against Anthea Kaye Guerin, 2-6, 7-5, 10-4.

Kristin Renee “Kara” Salimbangon crushed Ashley Ramirez, 6-2, 6-2, and will play against Series 54 champion Alexie Santos who outwit Beverly Olive Enriquez, 6-1, 6-0.

Those advancing in the quarterfinals of the girls 18-under are seed No. 1 Santos, Bornia who will face Beverly Olive Enriquez, Espinosa against Alferez, Cherry Mae Toledo to play against Salimbangon.


The quarterfinalists in the girls 12-under are Sacapano to play against Dec Lorrein Montanes, Wayne Albarazin against CJ Talya Suson, Pherl Bless Coderos to face Lyra Mae Repollo, Tiffany Claire Nocos to play against Anica Georgia Cari.

In the boys 12 and under, Sebastian Santos advances to the semi-finals after winning against Nonito Pepito, 6-3, 6-2. The rest will still be playing in the quarterfinals.

They are John David Velez against John Kenneth Tenepre, Venz Anton Alforque against Klein Russel Canete and Joshua Ramon Torres against Ceasar Salimbangon.
