CEBU City softball team headed by Coach Dionisio Bacarisas held Team Laguna scoreless after the second inning for a 3-1 win and the the bronze medal in Philippine National Games (PNG) yesterday at Marikina City Softball Field.

After trailing 1-0, Cebu City squad made an emphatic comeback in the fifth inning to tie the score. They nailed the crucial point in the sixth inning for the lead and followed it up in the seventh inning which sealed their third place finish.

“I’m very contented with the win. Laguna had the lead but luckily we had great plays late in the game to win. Maayo na kaayo na ang bronze medal,” Bacarisas told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

Bacarisas earlier said that they will play their best but were not expecting a medal in the PNG campaign since they did not have enough practice time.

Cebu City softball team ranked third after the elimination with a (3-2) win-lose record. They got to the semifinals but was defeated, 8-1, by the formidable foe Philippine Air Force (PAF). PAF and the Philippine Navy were battling for the gold at press time.
