THE Pagara brothers take on hard-hitting Mexicans in their first time co-headlining a Pinoy Pride event.

Jason Pagara, the older brother, defends his World Boxing Organization (WBO) international light welterweight crown against Mario Meraz, while the unbeaten younger sibling, Albert Pagara, guns for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) international super bantamweight title against Hugo Partida on June 21 in Pinoy Pride 26 – “Fist of the Future” at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.

The 25-year-old Jason is one of the most promising young fighters from the ALA Boxing Gym and Meraz should be a stiff test for Jason because of his heavy hands. In 20 of his victories, Meraz, nicknamed “Rocky”, knocked out all but four. Nine of those knockout wins came in the first round.

Jason, 33-2 with 20 knockouts, has won six straight in a row following his loss to Rosbel Montoya in 2011.

Meraz, 20-3 with 16 knockouts, is also on a streak of his own, winning five straight fights.

Albert gets a step up in competition in his first run at a regional title from one of the major sanctioning bodies of boxing.
