THE number of participants exceeded the expectations of the organizers of the Color Manila Nite Run; the runners got their needed road time and everyone looked like they were in a party mood and high spirits.

But these were dampened when the promised finishers’ medals were put on hold.

About 1,800 participants, mostly first-time runners, answered the call of the Color Manila Nite Run at the Il Corso Filinvest Grounds at the South Road Properties and all hoped to get medals that would remind them of the event.

Event organizer Jay Em of Proactive said the event went well despite the earlier announcement about the finishers’ medal being on-hold.

“I’m happy how kind the runners in Cebu about what happened. We assured that they will get the medal, and we’ll contact them through our database. It’s important that they keep the race bib since it will be used in claiming the medal,” said Em.

This was the second fun run the group has organized in Cebu. It started off with Color Manila run last month.

“I think there were more participants on this event than last month because of the fact that this was a night run, which is free from the heat of the sun,” veteran race director of Coco Running Joel Juarez said.

As part of its regional events, Color Manila will bring its fun run to Bacolod City in July. (RSC)
