AS part of their continuing preparation for the regular season, Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) defending champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers and the University of San Carlos Warriors will take part in a four-day tournament in St. Bernard, Southern Leyte on May 25-28.

This tournament will come at the heels of their FilOil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup tournament campaign, which is scheduled to end on May 25 in Lapu-Lapu City.

Though they won the gold medal in the Private Schools Athletic Association national meet last month, the Lancers struggled heavily while trying to find the winning formula in pre-season tournaments like the FilOil Premier Cup.

USC on the other hand is perfecting its execution and winning touches.

This tournament would give the Cebu school-based teams the much needed exposure and experience as they will face the University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers, who finished second to De La Salle University Green Archers last year.

UST will be joined by a Manila-based commercial team Wang’s Ball Club/Sea Lions. The Lions currently play in the championship round of Passion Basketball League in Makati City.

The Sea Lions will parade veteran players like Ricky Ricafuente, Egay Billones, Niño Marquez, Bogs Raymundo and Harold Sta. Cruz.

The other teams that will be joining are the Cebu City-based AC Troopers and NCAA champion San Beda College.
