CEBUANO triathlete Joseph Miller made up for a lackluster debut and took seventh place in the Xterra Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
Miller clocked in at 2 hours 50 minutes and 59 seconds in a route that covered a 1.5-kilometer swim, 30K bike and an 11K trail run.
This was Miller’s second pro competition after his pro debut in the Xterra Asia-Pacific Championships, where he almost suffered from hypothermia.
Miller earlier said that he would race strong in Malaysia to take advantage of the weather, which is similar to the Philippines. He did just that and bagged home $400 for his seventh place finish on the event.
Miller’s team mates were also victorious; Ben Allen got the men’s division third place in 2:33:31, while Jacqui Slack posted to topped her division in 2:53:33. She was 15 minutes ahead of the second placer Daz Parker.
Dan Hugo dominated the men’s division in 2:24:39, finishing eight minutes ahead of Bradley Weiss (2:32:26).
Others who made the top 10 are Roger Serrano (2:36:36), Sam Gardner (2:41:17), Olly Shaw (2:46:56), Shahrom Abdullah (2:56:05) Barry Lee Chun Sing ((3:03:33), and Michal Bucek (3:22:25).
In the women’s division, Carina Wasle took third place in 3:11:31. She was followed by Renata Bucher (3:17:49) and Louise Fox (3:20:58).
Xterra Malaysia was the eighth and final stop on the Xterra Asia-Pacific tour. (RSC)
