AFTER almost suffering from hypothermia in his Xterra pro debut, Cebu-based triathlete Joseph Miller aims to bounce back today when he competes in the Xterra Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur .
“I will try to race strong in Malaysia since the climate is similar to the Philippines,” Miller told Sun.Star Cebu in an earlier interview.
The non wet-suit race in Xterra Asia-Pacific Championships in Australia last month had affected Miller’s game he started strong but swimming in freezing waters took him out of contention. He however managed to overcome hypothermia and finished the race.
Miller’s event is the pro championships triathlon and will cover 1.5-kilometer swim, 30K bike and an 11K trail run.
His teammates Xterra champion Ben Allen and Jacqui Slack are all set for another challenging terrain this weekend. Allen finished fifth place in Australia last month, while Slack took third place in the women’s division.
Miller said some of the top rated pros who joined in Australia will also see action in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Cebuanos Tenggoy Colmenares and Jomer Lim join the fray in the age group division of Xterra Malaysia. Colmenares is in 40-49 age group, while Lim will join in the 30-34 age group. (RSC)
