THE 2014 Kartzone Superkart Series will kick off this Sunday at the Kartzone race track in Panagdait.

Race organizer Kim Limgenco said there will be no major changes in the race format but they are planning to add one more venue this year.

“Everything is on track. We are ready to kick off this weekend. The same format and point system will be imposed this year. We are also planning to hold one of the race legs away from Cebu, but we haven’t finalized it yet,” he said.

KT expert defending champion and many-time Karter of the Year Jette Calderon won’t have to face rival Joseph Rojo but will have to deal with Joseph’s younger brother Vince, and Sean Velasco and JT Gullas.

Joseph is skipping this year’s series to concentrate on his studies.

Craig Aleman, the youngest Honda cadet national champion in the first leg of 2014 National Karting Series, will also aim to defend his cadet crown.

Liam Sacal and Jarond Mesina, on the other hand, will be racing in the KT novice category, while Frederick Cortes will move up to the KT masters. (RSC)
