THE Central Visayas Society of Ophthalmology (CVSO) and the Run for Sight Foundation are collaborating to hold the Eye Run on June 8 at the Cebu Doctors University Hospital on Osmeña Boulevard.
Although a first for CVSO, Run for Sight Foundation’s Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III has been organizing runs in Cebu for the last 10 years.
Larrazabal said the proceeds of the run will help people with eye problems, most especially the blind.
“We are helping the blind. Mostly we have cataract patients and we are doing our best to help them,” Larrazabal said.
The fun run will have an Open division for the 3K, 8K and 16K distances. The 8K and 16K welcomes running enthusiasts and serious runners.
The top three finishers will get cash prizes, while the top 10 finishers will also receive gift packs and finishers’ medals. All 16K finishers will get a limited eye medal—the first eye medal given in running history of Cebu. While the 3K category stays as a pure fun run that will invite newbies and fun runners.
