Suico, Penuti top Sotx badminton

FORMER Philippine team member and the current University of San Carlos high school badminton coach Gabriel Suico and University of Cebu Webmaster varsity Aljun Penuti teamed up to win the Level ABC Men’s Double title of the Sotx/Court 11 Philippines Badminton Invitational tournament last weekend at the Metro Sports Badminton Center.

Suico and Penuti defeated the former collegiate standouts from the University of San Jose-Recoletos Clint Armamento and Jed Sumalinog in the finals.

The other winners included Virgilio Natan and Jimboy Franca in the Men’s Doubles Level CD over Daniel Pantanosas and Miguel Pana; Mac Longakit and Teody Bautista in the Men’s Double Level E title; and Greffith Saycon and Teody Bautista in the Men’s Doubles Level F division.


In the Women’s Doubles Division, Jessa Diamante and Lizlee Libato won the Level CD title after beating Tricia Merced and Mary Macias.

Joan Francisco and Malou Babanto took the Level E title; and Rose Palasigue and Penelope Ong took the Level F crown.

Dodie Satera and Glyvette Etis won the Mixed Doubles Level CD title; and Kathleen Arevalo and Laurence Chua won the Level E title.
