Mandaue hosts swim meet

TO intensify its search for potential swimmers, Mandaue City Sports Commission will hold a two-day First Mayor Jonas Cortes Age Group Invitational Swimming Competition on May 24-25 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.

Mandaue City Sports Commission chairman Engr. Ricardo Mendoza said they have invited the 27 barangays to take part in the swimming competition, which will have the 8-Under, 9-10, 11-to 12, 12-Under, 13-Under and Open divisions.Jesse Arriola said the competition was scheduled on April 26 and 27 but was moved because they wanted to include the barangays.

“The Mandaue City Sports Commission dreams of producing future swimmers and we hope, through this kind of competition we can identify future swimmers who we can invite for a grassroots program called Learn to Swim,” said Arriola.


Arriola said they have received confirmation from from Surigao, Davao, Maasin, Badian and from neighboring cities.
