THE Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (Cviraa) team swept the Under-13 division of the Cup tournament of the 3rd BRO Nationals Football Festival at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC).

Cviraa kicked Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) out of title contention following a 2-0 win at the Magone pitch.

SHS-AdC had a chance to make the finals had they beaten Cviraa or had DBTC lost its match against Inayawan FC. DBTC, however, beat Inayawan FC convincingly, 6-2, and SHS-

AdC lost to Cviraa, which is composed of players from DBTC.

An early goal by Christian Agot dictated the pace of the match as he hit the back of the net in just the third minute of regulation.

Angelo Colina gave Cviraa a 2-0 lead with a goal in the 48th minute.

Cviraa faces off with DBTC in the championship match this Friday at the Aboitiz Sports Field.

After a painful 2-1 defeat to University of Cebu (UC)-Nigerians, the UC-Koreans bounced back and are in a good position for a spot in the championship after beating Men’s Open division leaders Erco FC, 3-1.

Erco FC scored the first goal with a header that went through Korean goalkeeper Kim Mim Jae in the 63rd minute.

However, the lead was short-lived as the Korean defenders turned into scorers.

Right back Kim Ji Seok scored the equalizer in the 68th minute with a well-timed volley just outside the box.

Left back Jeng Wang gave the Koreans the lead in the 71st after a floating shot near the middle of the pitch that went in despite the outstretched arm of Erco FC goalie Henry Perales.

Kim Dong Chan finished Erco off with another goal in the 79th for the Koreans.

UC-Nigerians beat Airlifters FC, 4-0, earlier in the day, while Don Bosco Alumni-Erco FC was yet to play UC-Nigerians at press time.

UC-Nigerians are at the top of the table with seven points, just a point ahead of UC-Koreans. Erco FC is at third with four points, while DB-Erco FC is at fourth with three.

In the Under-18 division, DBTC demolished winless Alegria FC, 8-0, while Cviraa, was set to face Liloan FC at press time.

Cviraa is still at the top of the division with six points followed by DBTC also with six and then Liloan FC with three.

If Liloan FC beats Cviraa, then they would face off anew in the championship match on Friday. However, if Liloan FC lost to Cviraa then Cviraa will face DBTC in the finals.
