SWU faces NU in finals

THE visiting National University Bulldogs set up a championship showdown with the Southwestern University Cobras in the 2014 Mandaue City Mayor’s Cup Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championship at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex Friday evening.

Seeded no.2 in Bracket B, the Bulldogs cruised to the finals after picking an easy win over Bracket A top team and 10-time Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) 10-time champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers, 71-51.

SWU Cobras, the top team in Group B, marched to the finals following a 78-65 win over the Bracket A no.2 University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R).


The championship game was set to be played at press time last night following the game for third place at 7 p.m.

Coach Eric Altamarino will get a chance to get back at coach Yayoy Alcoseba after the Bulldogs lost to the Cobras 68-66 in their elimination
round meeting last Wednesday. (RCM)
