CEBUANOS Arthur Craig Pantino and Zethley Mae Alferez failed to advance in the ITF Asia 14-Under Development Championships in Vietnam but cherished their experience.

Pantino,11, of the University of San Carlos Basic Education Department (USC-BED) lost to Thailand’s top player Tonkla Mulada in the second round, while Alferez lost in the first round.

“This is considered as the highest grade tournament with 12 countries represented by their top three players. Even though we didn’t reach the finals, the experience was worth it for Iggy and Anday because they were able to observe these players,” said Lourdes, the mother of Pantino.

“Our players need more international exposure to boost their confidence. When Iggy learned he will be playing Thailand’s no.1 player, medyo na intimidated siya and nawala ang iyang focus,” she said.
