EIGHT Cebuano footballers have been selected to join some of the country’s most promising players in the Clear Manchester United Football Camp next month.
After a one-day tryout this month at the Aboitiz Sports Field, United Football League (UFL) coach Hans Smit and other coaches have picked eight players that will join 24 others in the football camp on April 25 to 27.
The players who made the cut are Bennydick Saligan, Dan Villarico, Lawrence Baguio, Major Dean Ebarle, Enzo Ceniza, Shane Sarmiento, Tom Booth and Yves Caballero.
Januarius Paglinawan, Janry Acaaso, Julian Miranda and Pericles Dakay Jr. are in the reserved list in case a player from the chosen eight backs out.
The Clear Manchester United Football Camp is a three-day camp, in which players will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience of training under the coaching staff of one of the most popular English clubs.
The best six players of the 32 will be playing in the Clear Dream Match football exhibition, headed by brothers Phil and James Younghusband.
Aside from some of the best UFL players playing for Team Phil and Team James, two Manchester United legends will be joining —striker Andy Cole and midfielder Paul Scholes.
Last year, the former football stars who joined the Clear Dream Match were ex-Chelsea player Dennis Wise and Italian defender Fabio Cannavaro.
