CCM holds Rapid Open

CEBUANO chess players are expected to troop to the two -day 1st Cebu Chess Masters Rapid Open tournament this weekend at the second floor of the Colonnade Mall in Colon St.

Cebu Chess Masters, a membership organization, aims to bring together chess players in Cebu and surrounding areas in order to share their common interest, regardless of their playing ability or skills.

The tournament, which is sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, is a seven-round Swiss System event with a time control of 20 minutes plus 10-seconds increment for each player.


The champion will go home with the top prize of P4,000, while the second and third placer will pocket P3,000 and P2,000, respectively. The fourth placer will pocket P1,000 while the fifth and sixth placers will get P500 each. The seventh and eight placers will get P400 each, while the rest of the top 10 will get P300.

The top female performer will be given a special prize of P500, while the top three kiddies finishers will get P500, P400 and P300, respectively.
