DESPITE a failed debut, the 6’8” Kevin Jones vowed to bounce back as San Miguel Beermen takes on Rain or Shine Wednesday in a lone game of the 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner's Cup elimination round at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Beemen, who are celebrating 25th year of their only grandslam crown, will face their Philippine cup semifinal tormentor Rain or Shine at 8 p.m. They are actually looking for their third win in four matches, while the Elasto Painters are carrying a 1-1 win-loss slate.
San Miguel Beer team consultant Todd Purves pointed out chemistry of the team as the reason for the setback to Talk 'N Text (99-107) on Friday saying they were ahead in almost all departments including rebounds and assists.
Jones, who replaced Josh Boone, played for 40 minutes and finished with 35 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal but was not enough despite the comeback of 6’10” center June Mar Fajardo.
“We have to work on our chemistry. Jones played just his first game with the team and June Mar just came back. These guys have not play together yet. Jones played hard and I believe he fits with the team,” said Purves.
Purves comment was also shared by Jones, saying chemistry will get better as the conference goes on.
