NEWLY crowned SeaOil-National Basketball Training Camp (NBTC) National champions Chiang Kai Shek College Blue Dragons will be coming to Cebu for a series of tune-up matches with the local high school teams next month.

Local coaches Rommel Rasmo of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles and Britt Carlo Reroma of the University of San Carlos Baby Warriors are thrilled with the upcoming visit of Chiang Kai Shek before the holy week.

The CKSC Blue Dragons displayed a lot of focus and patience as they defeated the UAAP champions National University Bullpups 88-80 for the NBTC title last March 9 in Pasig City.

“It’s going to be a good tune-up tournament for us especially since we are going to play for Central Visayas in the Palarong Pambansa,” SHS-AdC coach Rommel Rasmo told Sun.Star Cebu.

Aside from playing tune-up games with Cebu’s top high school teams, CKSC is also holding a series of basketball clinics in schools.

“We will be proposing that since they will be here, the tune-up games should be turned into a tournament. It will be good exposure for our teams like UV, Sacred Heart, San Carlos even CEC (Cebu Eastern College),” Reroma said.

Chiang Kai Shek came into prominence in Metro Manila high school basketball circuit after topping the Metro Manila Basketball League beating the likes of NU, Hope Christian High School and San Beda College Red Cubs.

“Dinhi sa ato ang kuwang lang gyud kay tournament. Sa Manila man gud daghan kaayo ang tournament dili lang para sa mga college ug commercial players apil ang high school naa pod daghan tournaments. Diha gyud ta malupig nila sa experience,” Reroma added.

Reroma who had won three NCAA titles for San Beda Red Cubs before deciding to come home to Cebu and coach the USC Baby Warriors.
