Tuesday, March 11, 2014
CEBUANO Eugene Toquero returns to the ONE FC cage in one of the featured fights in Asia’s biggest MMA organization’s comeback to the Philippines in May.
Toquero, a former Muay Thai standout, takes on unbeaten Malaysian Gianni Subba in “ONE FC: Rise of Heroes” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
After an impressive campaign in the PXC, Toquero had a rude awakening in his debut in the ONE FC cage. He dropped a unanimous decision in the hands of fellow Filipino Geje Eustaquio of Team Lakay last Dec. 6 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Toquero won all his previous fights by stoppage.
The 21-year-old Subba, on the other hand, is a three-fight survivor in the ONE FC cage. He made a successful MMA debut with a first-round knockout over Bruce Loh.
Subba’s latest win was a technical knockout over Yun Ting Chen in Malaysia last Nov. 15.
Toquero is 4-1, while Subba is 3-0.
ONE FC bantamweight king Bibiano Fernandes (15-3) headlines the card as he defends his crown against Japanese Masakatsu Ueda (18-2-2).
Australian Rob Lisita (13-5) faces off with Yusuke Kawanago (13-3-2) in a rematch.
