AFTER contrasting victories last Saturday night at the posh Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque City, unbeaten prospects Albert Pagara and Arthur Villanueva will hone their skills abroad.

“The plan is to bring them to the US to train,” ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

Genesis Servania and Milan Melindo were the first batch of ALA Gym boxers to train in the US and Mexico. World champions Donnie Nietes and Merlito Sabillo then followed.

Pagara and Villanueva both logged wins last Saturday night.

The 20-year-old Pagara easily beat former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific super flyweight champion Isack Junior with a knockout in the opening round.

Villanueva, on the other hand, had trouble in his 10-round fight with last minute replacement Fernando Aguilar, who was tough as nails.

The 25-year-old Villanueva walked away with a unanimous decision but was disfigured after the 10-round war.

“That was a shock. I always believe that replacement fighters are the most dangerous ones. Mexicans always come to fight, ”said Aldeguer after the fight.
