NEWLY crowned champion San Mig Coffee is the top all-Filipino team in the Philippine Basketball Association wrapping a total of six Philippine Cup titles of its 11 championships overall since joining the league in 1988.

After securing their first back-to-back titles, the Coffee Mixers are blessed with having American coach Tim Cone, who became the winningest coach in the 39-year history of the professional league with 16 titles including four All-Filipino championships.

The 56-year-old Cone , who was born in Oregon, USA, surpassed legendary coach Virgilio Dalupan’s record for the most championships won with 15. He won three with San Mig Coffee and 13 with the Alaska Aces including a Grandslam in 1996.

Cone, who joined Purefoods in 2012, steered the Coffee Mixers to a 4-2 triumph in the best-of-seven titular series following a 93-87 win over Rain or Shine in Game six on Wednesday night before more than 20,000 fans at the Big Dome.

“It’s surreal. At this point, I'm in a daze. I'm having trouble sorting it all out,” said Cone after the dramatic 'walkout' staged by Rain or Shine after the latter’s coach Yeng Guio felt there were so many “bad calls” against his team.

San Mig team manager Alvin Patrimonio, a former four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP), is foreseeing a possible dynasty for the Mixers.

“Maganda yung composition ng team kasi. Hats off talaga ako kay Coach Tim (Cone) for a great job,” said Patrimonio.

Two-time MVP James Yap also said that he is very proud to be part of the team's legacy in the league describing their success as a great honor.

“It's an honor. We are very happy to be a part of history,” said Yap.
