MARLON Tapales passed his latest test and is hoping to land a slot in the undercard of the upcoming rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley.
“Our plan for his next fight is that he would be in the undercard of Manny on April 12. But that depends on Wakee (Rex Sauld),” Tapales’ trainer Juanito Ablaca told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday. “We are still waiting for the result of Wakee’s talk with Michael Koncz.”
The 21-year-old Tapales scored a unanimous decision win over Indonesian Galih Susanto last Saturday night at the Almendras Gym in an MP Promotions boxing show in Davao City.
Tapales improved to 24-2 with nine knockouts, while Susanto dropped to 6-4 with a knockout.
Tapales broke into the US scene in 2011, fighting in a small Top Rank event Las Vegas.
After fighting his next four fights in the Philippines, Tapales fought once again in international soil against David Sanchez in a Zanfer-promoted event in Mexico last year. He lost that fight by majority decision.
