SAN Mig Coffee goes for a commanding 3-1 lead when it battles Ginebra San Miguel Kings Wednesday in Game 4 of the best-of-seven semifinal series of the 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Despite their 2-1 lead in the series following a 97-89 victory in Game 3 last Sunday, coach Tim Cone said he is not yet comfortable and need to win today to move just a win away from reaching the Finals for the second straight conference.

Game time today is set at 8 p.m.

“It’s gonna be a tough seies, we are still not comfortable having lead 2-1. We need to be A+ (plus) to beat Ginebra,” said Cone, who is aiming for his 16th title as a coach and 11th overall for San Mig Coffee formerly Purefoods.

Cone, who has given two conference crowns to San Mig Coffee since leaving Alaska Aces in 2011, believed Ginebra will come back strong citing its “never-say-die character.”

The winner between San Mig and Ginebra faces the victor between Petron and Rain or Shine in the best-of-seven titular series. The Elasto Painters are leading the Blaze Boosters, 3-1 in their best-of-seven semis battle.

Both the Coffee Mixers and the Kings were almost even in all departments during Game 3, except in the three-point area where the Coffee Mixers shoot 53 percent on 8-of-15 , three from June Peter Simon while two each from Joe Devance and Justin Melton and one from Mark Barroca. The Kings' converted only four-of-13 attempts for a low 30.8 percent.

The 7-foot Greg Slaughter could be the key to Ginebra's comeback today.

He finished with 29 points, 13 rebounds, one assist and a block last Sunday. But the Kings just lost steam in the crucial stretch.
