CEBUANO slotman Joseph Ronald Quiñahan is bracing for his upcoming match up with fellow Cebuano center Junemar Fajardo when the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters play the Petron Blaze Boosters in a best-of-five semifinal series in the PLDT HomeDSL-PBA Philippine Cup.
Although Petron is still playing the Barako Bull Energy Cola in the quarterfinal round, Quiñahan is already looking forward to playing the University of Cebu Webmasters product in their quest for another shot of the All-Filipino Conference title.
“Kayahon nako. Honestly, Junemar is very hard to stop because he is tall and big. I will just try my best to stop him. (But) He needed to stop me too from the outside,”Quiñahan told Sun.Star Cebu in jest.
Quinahan added that playing Fajardo is no longer new to him as he had defended the 6’10” behemoth every time their teams met.
“Kabisado na nako iyang duwa. Ako pod kabisado na pod niya kay kami man permi magbinantayay,” added the Looc, Mandaue City native Quiñahan.
Rain or Shine finished the elimination second in the team standings with 11-2 while Petron placed 3rd with 10-4 record.
The Elasto Painters was the first to beat the Blaze Boosters their conference after they snapped a seven game winning roll of Petron with a 99-95 overtime win last Dec. 21.
As of presstime yesteday, Petron was shooting for a semifinal round spot against Barako in their best-of-three quarterfinalround series while RoS who take the first semis slot is enjoying a two game days rest ahead of Petron.
RoS’ short break came in timely as Quiñahan was advised to rest after he injured his leg in their quarterfinal round game against the GlobalPort Batang Pier last Wednesday.
The Elasto Painters enjoyed a twice to beat incentives and its 106-96 win over Batang Pier took them straight to the semifinal round.
“Naigo akong tuhod, unya nihubag siya. I had it checked by the doctors this morning (yesterday) and luckily it was only contusions. But I was advised to rest my injury. I will be back for practice on Sunday,” Quinahan added.
