TWO Filipino pugs were outclassed by their Mexican foes and suffered knockout defeats in separate venues in Mexico.

Cebu-based Marco Demecillo suffered another stumbling block in his promising boxing
career after bowing down to highly-rated David Sanchez at the Gimnasio del Estado in Hermosillo, Sonora.

Sanchez ended Demecillo’s night in the 2:56 mark of the fourth round to claim the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) International super flyweight crown.

Sanchez, rated No. 3 in the WBA and No. 5 in the World Boxing Organization (WBO), improved to 24-2-2 with 19 knockouts, while Demecillo suffered his first career knockout loss and dropped to 19-2-1 with 14 knockouts.

Demecillo took this fight on short notice and stepped in for WBA No. 14 ranked Breilor Teran.

The 23-year-old Demecillo has lost two of his last three bouts with the other loss, a lopsided unanimous decision to unbeaten Filipino prospect Arthur Villanueva last year in Davao City.

Fernando Lumacad’s woes continue after suffering another loss in Mexican soil.

The 27-year-old Lumacad, a once promising prospect, was stopped by Horacio Garcia in the opening round of their World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas super flyweight crown fight in Jalisco.

Lumacad suffered a wrist injury and couldn’t continue.

The 23-year-old Garcia remained unbeaten and improved to 25-0 with 17 knockouts, while Lumacad dropped to 29-7-3 with 12 knockouts.

It was Lumacad’s fifth defeat in Mexico and his third loss in five fights.
