IT IS not every day that a native-born Cuban boxer gets to display his wares on Cebuano soil fighting against a tough Cebuano warrior in a true-to-life reality show to unfold on Sinulog day.

Setting foot on this tropical country is a big challenge for Cuban fighter Reymi Castellano Aleye. Born in Havana, the 26-year-old Aleye started his first amateur boxing bout at 9 years old under the influence of his father.

Aleye bagged six national titles and fought 400 fights as an amateur boxer in Cuba. He made waves in France, Germany as well as in Ukraine by winning two silver and a bronze medal. He also got the chance to trade blows with Guillermo Rigondeaux, the WBA and WBO Champion who upset Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. last April 2013 but lost to his fellow Cuban. (PR)
