Fuentes’ fight in Puerto Rico moved to 2014-A A +A

ROCKY Fuentes’ debut in Puerto Rico may have to wait a little bit because his International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight title eliminator with former Olympian McWilliams Arroyo has been pushed back.
“It was because of the typhoon that affected the Visa application and also PR Boxing felt a new date would be better. For our part, we also wanted to launch our international promotional ventures next year,” ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu.
Fuentes and Arroyo were supposed to face off on Dec. 7 but the event co-promoted by PR Best Boxing and ALA Promotions has been moved to Jan. 25.
Fuentes is the reigning Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight champion. He is rated highly in all the major world boxing sanctioning bodies – fifth in the IBF, sixth in the World Boxing Organization (WBO), and third in both the World Boxing Association (WBA) and the World Boxing Council (WBC). Arroyo is rated 11th in the WBA and sixth in the IBF.
Fuentes is coming off a unanimous decision over Juan Kantun in April, while Arroyo knocked out Miguel Tamayo in February.
Fuentes is 35-6-2 with 20 knockouts, while Arroyo is 14-1 with 12 knockouts.
Unbeaten Filipino prospect Mark Acub (13-0, 10 KOs) will face former world title challenger Jose “Chelo” Gonzalez (22-1, 17 KOs) in the same card.
