JIMMY Paypa faces one of his stiffest test to date as he slugs it out with fellow
promising young prospect Jason Redondo next week.

Paypa and Redondo trades leathers in the main event of “Bakbakan sa Balamban II” on Sept. 25 at the Balamban Sports Complex.

Paypa has shown his potential in the past few years, winning 11 fights in a row and beating veteran gatekeepers Eric Barcelona, Marvin Tampus and Eman Labanza in the process. The 20-year-old Lanao del Norte native started 2-2 in his boxing career with losses to Jerwin Ancajas and John Paul Bautista.

The hard-hitting Redondo has won back-to-back fights since suffering his first career
loss a ninth round technical knockout to Labanza last year.

Paypa is 13-2 with four knockouts, while the 19-year-old Redondo is 7-1 with six knockouts.

Comedic pug Jun Intor (23-11-7, 8 KOs) is set to entertain the fans as he faces Nelson Sandal (0-1) in a four-round special attraction.

Crispin Parba (6-6, 3 KOs) faces off with Japanese Yosuke Miyagawa; Takaoki Naoma (1-2) locks horns with Geo Santisima (0-1); unbeaten Kim Galon (2-0, 2 KOs) slugs it out with Marlou Talili (5-7, 2 KOs); and Raul Yu (2-0, 2 KOs) also stakes his unblemished record against Ritchel Rosales (0-2) in the event’s curtain-raiser.

ALA Gym’s two world champions—World Boxing Organization (WBO) light flyweight titleholder Donnie Nietes and WBO mini-flyweight champion Merlito Sabillo—are special guests in ALA Promotions’ “Bakbakan sa Balamban II”, which is sponsored by Cebu West Park Industries in cooperation with the Municipality of Balamban.
