FILIPINO Kevin Bellingon’s climb in the bantamweight ladder continues as he faces Vietnamese-Australian Thanh Vun in the semifinals of the ONE FC Bantamweight Grand Prix on April 5 at the Singapore Indoor Arena.

After dropping his first two fights in the ONE FC, the 25-year-old Team Lakay member made up for his blunder and advanced to the semifinals of the ONE FC Bantamweight Grand Prix after a first round-demolition of fellow prospect Yusup Saadulaev last year.

The win improved his position for a possible crack at the ONE FC bantamweight belt held by Soo Chul Kim.

Kim handed Bellingon his second career loss last year via a unanimous decision. Bellingon’s only other loss was a loss by submission to Masakazu Imanari.

Vu, on the other hand, earned his spot in the semifinals with a technical knockout over Malaysian Mohd Fouzein earlier this month.

Bellingon, the current URCC flyweight champion, is 10-2, while Vu is 3-1.

The winner of the Bellingon-Vu fight takes on the winner of the other semifinal match between former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver (27-17-1) and ex-Shooto featherweight titleholder Masakatsu Ueda (16-2-2).

“ONE FC: Kings and Champions is the biggest event in ONE FC history and will feature four of the world’s best bantamweights fighting for a shot at the Bantamweight World Championship title. It is a must-see for MMA fans because when these four champions enter the ONE FC cage, nothing will matter more to them than making it into the finals of the Grand Prix. Get ready for explosive MMA action that will leave you on the edge of your seats,” said ONE FC CEO Victor Cui.

The main event of ONE FC – Kings and Champions features ONE FC lightweight champion Kotetsu Boku (20-7-2) defending his crown against No. 1 contender and Japanese MMA superstar Shinya Aoki (32-6). Lightweights Eddie Ng (5-1) and Arnaud Lepont (9-2) are also seeing action.
