CEBUANO giant Junemar Fajardo is expected to have extra minutes when Petron Blaze Boosters visit Cebu for the PBA 2013 Sinulog Cup Basketball tournament on Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 at the Cebu Coliseum.

Fajardo, who anchored the University of Cebu Webmasters on its two Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) titles before he was picked as No.1 overall draft by Petron during the 2012 rookie draft, is expected to play alongside NBA-experienced player Renaldo Balkman as the Boosters try to gel in time for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, which will start on Feb. 8.

The Blaze Boosters will be playing its sister team Barangay Ginebra Kings at the start of the three-day tournament, which will also have Alaska Aces and local commercial squad M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños.

The Petron-Ginebra game will follow the MLKP-Cebu vs. Alaska game at 5 p.m.

The three-day tournament is expected to give the PBA teams enough tune-up matches for the coming import-laden tournament.

The 6’8” Balkman, who suited up for the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA, will have the luxury of playing the power-forward position when the 6’10” Fajardo is on the floor.

The Kings, however, will be testing the capabilities of the 6’10” Herbert Hill, who was drafted in the second round by Utah Jazz in 2007 and has been playing for the Korean Basketball League since 2007.

Hill, however, is yet to meet the standards of new Ginebra coach Alfrancis Chua, who had placed the American import on a day-to-day basis because he still need more stamina to be able to cope with the run-and-gun game of the Kings.

Two games will be played on each play dates – the top team after the elimination round will be declared as the champions.

General Admission tickets are sold for P50, P150 for the upper box, P250 for the lower box,P350 for the reserved stage area seats and P500 for the courtside seats.
