JUNE MAR Fajardo will be seeing action for three straight days in Cebu as the Petron Blaze Boosters confirmed their participation in the 2013 Sinulog Cup Basketball tournament on Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 at the Cebu Coliseum.

Fajardo led the University of Cebu to back-to-back titles in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. before joining the PBA last year.

His toughest competitor for the Rookie of the Year award and the no.2 pick Calvin Abueva also made himself available to play in the three-day tournament after Alaska Aces also signed up to play in the tournament.

The other teams that are seeing action are crowd-favorite Barangay Ginebra Kings and local club M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Ninos.

Ginebra is now under the new coach Alfrancis Chua, who was appointed after the Kings were eliminated by Rain or Shine Elasto Painters during the quarterfinal round.

The PBA squads are fine-tuning their game for the import-laced Commissioner’s Cup, which will begin in February.

Petron will parade Renaldo Balkman, who once played for the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets, while Ginebra will field former Philadelphia 76ers Herbert Hill. Alaska is still negotiating with Robert Dozier, who was drafted by the Miami Heat last year.

Ginebra is expected to bring reigning MVP Mark Caguioa, Jayjay Helterbrand and LA Tenorio, Alaska will have Cebuano hotshot Dondon Hontiveros, Cyrus Baguio and Jvee Casio in tow, while Petron will be fielding Arwind Santos, Alex Cabagnot and Jay Washington.
