‘Gusto ko, posas ka’-A A +A

THE Sandiganbayan Friday ordered the arrest of Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile and his former chief of staff, lawyer Jessica Lucila "Gigi" Reyes in connection with the graft and plunder charges filed against them by the Ombudsman.
Senator Enrile’s campaign slogan was, “Gusto ko, happy ka.”
Now, his sworn enemy, lung cancer-stricken Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, could say, “Gusto ko, posas ka.”
The arrest order came a month after Enrile and two other senators, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada, were charged with plunder over the P10-billion pork barrel scam engineered by Janet Lim-Napoles.
Revilla and Estrada were the first to surrender to authorities and are now held at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
Where would Enrile, now 90 with a host of ailments and some two dozen medications to take, go?
Enrile's camp is reportedly pushing for his “hospital arrest.” President Noynoy Aquino earlier said so. Would this be considered special treatment for Enrile?
The PNP has prepared two rooms for him in its general hospital in Camp Crame, one with an air-conditioning unit and the other none.
It pays to be 90.
Enrile had been arrested before. In 1990, he was nabbed in the Senate for the charge of rebellion complexed with murder for allegedly participating in the 1989 coup attempt against then president Corazon Aquino.
In 2001, he was arrested in his house with then General Reynaldo Berroya for inciting to sedition.
He walked out free in both cases.
Senator Santiago bravely announced she has stage 4 lung cancer.
But she also has forebodings of mortality. "There’s also a chance I might croak. There’s a chance I might die because nobody is sure of the results in cancer," she said.
She has a powerful voice, but if it falters, she could croak over the crooks before she croaks.
