Unidentified CCTV cams

THE Cebu City Government spent millions of pesos in buying closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras that were installed in areas where most of the crimes were committed to help the police solve crimes.

CCTV cameras have been proven useful for giving the police important leads in cases where there are no witnesses.

But we still don’t know how many cameras have been installed.

Can “Big Brother” watch everyone?

That could be the reason the cities of Mandaue and Cebu passed ordinances requiring business establishments, especially those dealing with money such as banks, pawnshops and money changers to install their own CCTV cameras.

Most establishments post warnings that “This Establishment is Protected with a CCTV

Why not post a sign saying, “Smile, you’re on CCTV cam.”

This time, hoods will actually wear hoods.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama ordered the removal of unidentified CCTV cameras installed in public places in the city if their owners don’t come forward.

Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak said he believes the 15 CCTV cameras found in different barangays are being used to monitor the police and other law enforcement agencies.

The city helps the police watch the criminals, while the criminals watch the police.

It’s now a case of who’s watching whom?

If Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago had her way, no idiot would be allowed to run for president in 2016.

“Any idiot can run for president and possibly poll a certain number of votes among his fellow idiots,” she said.

She said candidates for president, vice president, senator and representative should be at least college graduates.

Well, as Shakespeare said, “Life is a tale/ Told by an idiot, /full of sound and fury,/Signifying nothing.”
