GOV. Hilario Davide III will seek reelection in 2016, denying reports that he is at odds with Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale.

He said his running will validate how he did in his first term as governor.

Depende sa katawhan kung duna pay pagsalig nako (It depends on the public if they still trust me),” he said.

Davide also denied reports that he has been given a cabinet position in the National Government.

Ambot diin na gikan nga storya (I don't know where that story came from),” he told Sun.Star Cebu.

Asked if he is at odds with Magpale, the governor asked, “Kinsa may nag-ingon ana? Gikan tingali ng balitaa sa wa ganahi namong duha (Who said that? Perhaps it came from people who don't like the two of us).”

Davide attended a pulong-pulong in the house of City of Naga Councilor Vinci del Mar yesterday in Barangay Tuyan where he reiterated his support for Liberal Party officials in the first district: San Fernando Mayor Antonio Canoy, the district chairman; and del Mar, the City of Naga chapter head.

Del Mar, during the pulong-pulong, signified his intention to run for mayor of Naga.

He is expected to go up against City Administrator Christine Chiong, the daughter of Mayor Valdemar Chiong.

They are not yet official candidates since the filing of certificates of candidacy is still months away.

Canoy said he plans to run for congressman.

Rep. Gerard Anthony Gullas (Cebu City, 1st district) of Alayon Party, in an earlier interview, said he plans to seek reelection.

Chiong, when sought for reaction about Davide's pulong-pulong in del Mar's house, said, “My friendship with the governor is on a personal leverl, without political affiliation.”

Chiong, who belongs to the Alayon Party, said his party and party members pledged their support to the governor.

Bisan kinsa iyang (Davide) sabakon dinhi sa Naga kami molaban niya (Whoever he carries in Naga, will will continue to support him),” Chiong said.

As to the pulong-pulong in Del Mar's house, the mayor said that the group merely showed to the people that the governor is with them.

Davide told leaders yesterday that he still has plans and things to accomplish for Cebu, which is why he wants to get a fresh mandate.

He said he has a good working relationship with Magpale and admires her for being hard-working.

Among gibahin ang among trabaho diha (We have divided the tasks among ourselves),” he said.
