Mandaue workers to get P10T incentives-A A +A
Thursday, September 4, 2014
REGULAR employees of Mandaue City Hall are set to receive a cash bonus of P10,000 this month.
Mayor Jonas Cortes last Tuesday signed an ordinance granting P7,000 in cash incentives and another P3,000 in “milestone anniversary bonus” to each employee.
The City is “consistently mindful of the concern of the local employees considering the constant increase in the prices of basic commodities,” read the ordinance sponsored by Councilor Diosdado Suico.
The ordinance was approved by the council last Aug. 20. The Local Finance Committee endorsed the granting of bonus last Aug. 7.
While they will not receive a cash bonus, job-order workers, clean and green workers and Barangay Health and Nutrition Workers (BHNWs) will get a higher salary or honorarium.
Cortes approved the ordinance raising the daily wage of job-order employees from P265 to P340 starting April 1.
The same ordinance increases the honorarium of clean and green workers from P2,660 to P3,660 and that of BHNWs from P1,000 to P2,660 starting April 1.
The ordinance cited rising prices of basic commodities as the reason behind the increase.
The workers “do not enjoy the same benefits that the regular employees are privileged to have, and even receive compensation below the prevalent minimum wage enjoyed by private sector employees,” read the ordinance.
The City Hall has more than 2,000 regular employees, job-order workers, Clean and Green workers and BHNWs.
