A GASOLINE station in Minglanilla town lost more than P30,000 to six armed men last Thursday night.
Police are looking at the possibility that the robbery might have been an inside job.
The gasoline station is the seventh establishment hit by robbers this month in Cebu City and Cebu Province.
The Petron Gasoline Station in Barangay Poblacion Ward IV was about to close at 11:24 p.m. when six men on three motorcycles arrived. Two of the six unidentified men approached Ruben Cruz, the gasoline station's security guard on duty, and disarmed him.
The two suspects held Cruz at gunpoint while their companions went to the cashier, Epifanio Sellote Jr., and demanded him to hand them the money in the register. Sellote said he was afraid they would shoot so he gave them the day’s earnings.
Two suspects served as look outs.
The suspects took P33,873 from the gas station, boarded their motorcycles and drove north towards Cebu City.
Senior Insp. Richard Gadingan, Minglanilla Police Station chief, said that they are looking at the possibility that the robbery was planned with the help of someone working at the gasoline station.
He said the security guard was too relaxed. The guard should have been extra-alert because the establishment was about to close.
Gadingan said the gasoline station had a close circuit television (CCTV) camera but it was not able to take a footage of the robbery.
He said the town police will ask the help of the Cebu City police to determine the identities of the robbers.
He said this was not the first time that a gasoline station in their town was robbed.
Last June, a gasoline station in Barangay Calajoan was robbed by two armed men.
