POLICE stations in Lapu-Lapu City will be intensifying their patrols amid robbery incidents in neighboring towns and cities.
Lapu-Lapu City Police Chief Armando Radoc gave this directive and instructed police stations to check financial establishments such as banks and firms offering money transfer services now and then and alert their security guards.
“I have instructed them to make a profile of establishments in their area that are possible targets of robbers,” he said in an interview with reporters yesterday.
Last Tuesday, an LBC outlet in Mandaue City lost P24,000 in cash and valuables to armed robbers. It was the sixth time an LBC outlet in Cebu was robbed this year.
Last Aug. 13, an LBC outlet on Escario St., Cebu City was robbed by two armed men who fled with P10,000.
Five months before that, an LBC outlet in Taboan, Cebu City lost P42,000 to two armed robbers. Another outlet was also robbed in Barangay Tabok in Mandaue.
Radoc said he directed all police stations to conduct more patrol activities.
“I instructed them to have personnel on the field to check on these establishments on remind their guards to not sleep on their job,” he said.
Radoc also advised money transfer outlets, banks and other establishments dealing with money to be vigilant.
He called on the City Council to pass an ordinance compelling establishments to install security cameras to discourage robbers and help in police investigation.
