A CANDLE was believed to have triggered a fire on V. Rama Ave. in front of a public cemetery in Barangay Calamba, Cebu City at 9:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

No one was reported hurt, but the fire destroyed a house and damaged two other houses.

Damage to property was pegged at P10,000 since the houses were made mostly of light materials.

SFO3 Roylin Maratas of the Cebu City Fire Department told Sun.Star Cebu that the fire was declared control after five minutes of firefighting. It was declared fire out an hour later.

According to the initial information gathered by SFO2 Eduardo Abellanosa, who investigated the accident, the fire may have been caused by a candle.

Naa’y nakit-an nga batan-on nagdala og kandila nisulod sa balay (A young guy was seen to have entered the house holding a candle),” said Maratas. Janelle Paula Blaire L. Arcayos, USJ-R Mass Comm Intern
