ANTI-narcotics operatives arrested three people, including an alleged drug pusher, in a raid in Barangay Calamba, Cebu City at dawn yesterday.
Seized by the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (Caidsotg) from the trio were packs of a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu worth almost P500,000.
The operatives led by Senior Insp. Eunil Avergonzado implemented a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Wilfredo Navarro of Branch 19 against Atillano Cuizon Jr. past 4 a.m.
Police allegedly recovered six medium packs of shabu during the raid in Atillano’s house on A. Lopez St. in Sitio Mahayahay leading to his arrest.
During the search, Caidsotg also found a .38 revolver with four bullets and P2,300 believed to be drug proceeds from Atillano’s possession.
In the police report, the operatives also took John Edward Cuizon, 20, and Paterno Cabrera, 26, in custody. They were caught with four small packs of shabu and five small packs of shabu, respectively.
They were both in Atillano’s house when Caidsotg implemented the warrant.
The seized drugs will be submitted to the PNP 7 Regional Crime Laboratory for analysis.
Sun.Star Cebu called Avergonzado several times regarding the raid, but he couldn’t be reached by phone.
Police will be filing a complaint against the three men for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
After the Police Regional Office 7 intensified its campaign against illegal drugs, the Cebu City Police Office has its share of success.
Last July 23, suspected shabu reportedly worth almost P1.5 million and illegal gambling machines were confiscated in Barangays Calamba, Ermita and Pasil.
In Aug. 9, a 14-year-old girl was arrested by the police, who confiscated from her an estimated P5.9 million worth of shabu in Labangon, one of the biggest drug haul by CCPO this year. DSM
