A 17-YEAR-OLD boy was stabbed to death in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City at dawn yesterday.

Police arrested Jowe Kadil, 39, who was seen by witnesses stabbing Juan Apa, reportedly a high school student, several times at 1:45 a.m.

Apa, a resident of Sitio Kitchen, Barangay Pajo, was brought to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital and later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City, where he died after a few hours.

PO1 Benhor Cuadra of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Station 3 said Kadil hid when police officers went to his residence in Sitio Kamansi, Barangay Pajo past 3 a.m.

At past 9 a.m., police returned to the area after receiving a call informing them that Kadil wanted to surrender for fear that the victim’s family and relatives may retaliate.

The police failed to recover the weapon the suspect allegedly used.

Cuadra said Kadil used a sharp object commonly used by cobblers to stab the victim. He said Kadil, who lives in a shanty on the shore, threw the weapon into the sea.

Kadil, who earned a living by looking after vehicles in the parking area, was detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Holding Cell.

Cuadra said Kadil will be charged with murder.

Initial investigation revealed that Kadil and Apa had been at odds for some time because the latter had allegedly stolen crash helmets from motorcycles in the parking area. RSB
